Mission Statement
The Board of Trade advocates on behalf of and is the voice of the Clarington business community. The Board of Trade
provides a forum for the business community to develop programs and opportunities to promote trade and commerce
within the Municipality of Clarington.

About the Board of Trade
- Formed in 1998 to provide a common voice of business in Clarington.
- Working with business people and government to improve and maintain a healthy business climate.
- Consist of a volunteer Board of Directors, 3 employees and over 260 local businesses - small and large
companies from all areas of our Municipality, and all sectors of the business community.
- Partnerships with existing B.I.A.’s, Chamber of Commerce and Business Groups, in Clarington and Durham Region
to ensure our membership has access to a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Economic Development
Contracted by the Municipality to execute the Economic Development function, The Board of Trade has a leadership role
in attracting and retaining business to this area and to cultivate partnerships for a healthy social fabric in Clarington. To
do this, we work closely with various municipal departments, existing businesses and Realtors, property managers and
developers who have land and/or space to promote.
Physician Recruitment
With the support of the Municipality and the local Medical Community the Clarington Board of Trade has been entrusted
to execute the role of Physician Recruitment. Our team is working with the local healthcare community to attract and
retain physicians to our community.
Ontario Chamber of Commerce
Membership with the Ontario Chamber allows us to broaden our network of influence, from offering a larger range of
valuable programming to representing us as a local business community at Queen’s Park.
Connected to the Community
The Clarington Board of Trade is an active participant in many community initiatives and events, through great groups
such as Community Living, Service Clubs, Clarington Library, Visual Arts Centre, Terry Fox Committee, Concerts in the
Park local B.I.A. events and the list goes on...
