Elaine Garnett -President

Elaine is a graduate Durham College’s Advertising program and has been in the media industry for over 18 years. She is currently the General Sales Manager at CHANNEL 12 and thrives on building strong business and community partnerships.
With an enthusiasm for her community, she is actively involved, supporting many local charities and events like McHappy Day, the Ed Lupton Memorial Golf Tournament, Special Olympics, Oshawa Hospital Foundation, the Strong Kids Campaign and the Y Knot Abilities Program. Elaine has been involved with the Durham Family YMCA for over eight years, volunteering in many capacities and is Co-Chair of the Leadership Gifts Campaign. Committed to education and the advertising industry, she is on Durham College's Advertising Curriculum Advisory Board and teaches part time for Fleming College's Post Graduate Advertising Program. In 2006, Elaine was recognized as "Business Person of the Year" by the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce in recognition of her dedication to business and community.
Co-owner of the Newcastle Funeral Home. a business she and her husband established in 1996. An active Board member of the Newcastle and District Chamber of Commerce, serving as President for 2004-2005. A founding member of the Village Concerts committee established in 2003 to provide free summer concerts in the Newcastle Parkette. Joyce is also serving as the Chamber of Commerce representative on the steering committee for Newcastles Sesquicentennial celebrations in 2006, and during her tenure as Chamber president sat on the Board of Directors of the Clarington Board of Trade. She is also Vice-Chair of the Parkview Seniors' Residence Board of Directors, and a member of the Newcastle/Bond Head Ratepayers Association.

Brian has been with TD Canada Trust for 27 years and has been the manager in Bowmanivlle for 4 years. He is has lived in Courtice for the pat 18 years. Brian is originally from Oshawa and has been married for 28 years and has two daughters currently attending University. Brian is active in both summer and winter sports which includes coaching girls fastball for 15 years.
Martin Vroegh - Director at Large

Martin Vroegh grew up in Clarington and is the Environment Manager for St. Marys Cement, North American Cement Operations. Martin is a member of several Cement Association committees in the US and Canada and also represents the cement sector on the Canadian Industrial Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC) Task Force. He has been in the cement industry since 1994 and has worked internationally at cement manufacturing facilities in 12 countries spanning 4 continents. Martin returned to life in Canada in 2004 after 7 years as an expatriate based in London, England and Lyon, France.

Jennifer Knox has more than 15 years of communication experience.
Areas of responsibility include government, stakeholder and community relations; marketing and media; educational outreach; employee communications; and strengthening community partnerships.
Prior to her current position as Manager of Public Affairs for Darlington Nuclear, Jennifer led the community relations program at OPG's Pickering nuclear station in her role as Senior Communications Advisor, and was a key member of the community relations team during the Pickering A return to service project and environmental assessment.
Jennifer is committed to community citizenship. She sits on the Marketing and Communications Committee for the Durham Strategic Energy Alliance (DSEA); is a member of the Clarington Agricultural Advisory Committee, a founding member of Clarington Marketing Minds, and a founding member of Durham Region Farm Connections. She previously served as Vice-Chair of the Clarington Heritage Advisory Committee and as Chair of the Agriculture Sub-Committee for Bowmanville's Sesquicentennial Celebrations.
Jennifer lives on a fourth-generation family farm known as Knox Pumpkin Farm, an honored recipient of Clarington Board of Trade's 25 Years in Business Certificate.

Mr. Franklin Wu is a graduate of School of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Waterloo in the early 70's and has done post-graduate studies in municipal administration, economic development and organization management.
Mr. Wu is a career civil servant having worked for the Provincial Government, the Regional Government and the local government for over 30 years. His accomplishments include the titles of Director of Development Approval with the Region of Durham, Assistant General Manager of Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation, Director of Planning for the Municipality of Clarington and the last six years as the Chief Administrative Officer for Clarington.
Mr. Wu is a member of the Ontario Municipal Administrators' Association, Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators and the Institute of Public Administration of Canada.

Sheila grew up in Scarborough, and moved to Bowmanville with her husband and two children in 1991. Sheila has volunteered for several committees for different groups including the School Councils, the Clarington Terry Fox Team and physician recruitment taskforce.
