POLICY & COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

(Full-time, Permanent)

 

POLICY & COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

 

The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade is an award-winning business organization that represents businesses of all sizes and sectors in Ajax and Pickering.   We are seeking a Policy and Communications Specialist to handle our ongoing communications and policy activities, working with members, volunteer Board committees, and external stakeholders across government, education and business.  The position reports to the Executive Director and is located at our Ajax office.

 

Duties include:

  • Designing and producing various marketing, communication and promotional materials using photography, copywriting and graphic design skills. Materials include a weekly information e-bulletin and quarterly plus one print bulletin.
  • Maintaining our corporate website
  • Co-ordinating media inquiries
  • Managing social media presence on a variety of platforms
  • Handling ongoing analysis, reporting, scheduling and stakeholder communication related to Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade policy and government relations projects and issues
  • Responding to member business inquiries and needs in the areas of policy and communications

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent strategic, research, analysis and reporting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and work to deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and Adobe design software
  • Successful experience in cross channel social media planning and execution
  • Relevant post-secondary education
  • Experience in a similar role, with 2+ years preferred

 

The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s licence and use of their own vehicle.

 

Base salary range:  $35,000 - $40,000 per year depending on experience.  A per km. allowance for approved travel is also provided.  Bonus and a benefits package are also available.

Growing Accounting Services firm requires part time data entry clerk. 

 

 

 

The role entails working on clients accounting systems remotely and entering accounting information from various sources into the client’s accounting system.

 

We are looking for part time candidates with experience in bookkeeping/accounting and data entry, either in Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable.

 

Looking for candidates with experience inputting accounting data

  • Posting transactions to journals and ledgers
  • Processing invoices and posting payments
  • Posting cash receipts and expenses
  • Strong knowledge of debits and credits
  • Software knowledge, strong administrative and written and verbal skills

 

Skill Requirements

  • Proofs work for accuracy and completeness
  • Prioritizes work by coding and sorting
  • Corrects errors during visual inspection
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Makes simple mechanical adjustments, such as switching sets and changing control features
  • Generates reports on inputted data.

 

Data Entry Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Access preferred
  • Ability to use 10 key adding machine
  • Ability to key up to 8,000 key strokes per hour
  • Good mathematical ability
  • Good item processing skills
  • Ability to work to achieve time deadlines
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • 1-3 years experience required. High School diploma or equivalent is required
