Clarington Terry Fox Steering Committee launches
the Team Up For Terry, “30 for 30” challenge….
July 2010, 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, and the Clarington Terry Fox Steering Committee is challenging businesses, community groups and family/friends teams to register your group to help us meet our goal to have 30 teams registered to mark this tremendous 30th Anniversary milestone.
It is impossible to not feel great pride when talking about Terry Fox. The profile he has received in the past months during the Olympics and Paralympics reflects the timelessness of his story and the power of his vision. It also reflects that Terry remains a vibrant force in Canadian life, making the Terry Fox Run a “must do” for many people and their families.
Team Up For Terry is a great opportunity for your group, company, or organization to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
With no entry fee or minimum donation expected, the only expectations are the ones you make for your own Terry Fox Run Team. The Run is not competitive and anyone can participate – run, jog, walk, ride, or wheel.
In 2009, the Clarington Terry Fox Run had another very successful Run Day finishing 8th out of 230 Run Sites in Ontario with total pledges for cancer research of $77,400. Along with individual participants, there were 24 teams. This being the 30th Anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope, the Steering Committee for the Clarington Terry Fox Run has a goal of “30 for 30” – 30 Teams for the 30th Anniversary.
